Food Pantry Volunteer

St. Mark’s Outreach Team

Purpose:

To pack and distribute bags of food to homeless and needy people seeking assistance at the church.

Responsibilities:

· Pack bags and stock closets with donated food.

· Notify coordinator when there is no food available.

· Give out bags of food in accordance with food pantry guidelines to those seeking assistance.

· Set up distribution area.

· Move bags back into food pantry room after distribution is finished for the day.

· Complete required forms and logs on distribution day.

Qualifications:

· Be willing to enforce the food pantry guidelines.

· Be willing to find substitute if unable to work scheduled day.

· Be able to lift and carry bags of groceries from food pantry room to hallway.

· Show compassion and caring for those seeking assistance.

Time Requirements:

· Packing bags – 1 day per month, approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours.

· Distributing bags – 1 day per month for 2 ½ hours

Training:

· Written guidelines for packing and distributing bags.

· Working with current volunteers.
