St. Mark’s Evangelism Team Greeter Help visitors to: · feel welcome at St. Mark’s · have a positive worship experience · answer questions about the church and parish · meet members, clergy, and staff and feel comfortable during coffee hour · obtain written information about the church Help parish to: · help visitors feel welcome · get to know visitors and new members · obtain contact information on visitors Greeter Position Responsibilities: · Greet members and visitors as they arrive at church. · Provide assistance to visitors new to the Episcopal worship service and Eucharist. Offer to sit with them and explain the prayer book, kneeling, bells, the peace, passing the offering plate, and going up for Eucharist. · Greet members and visitors as they leave the worship service. · Invite visitors to sign the guest book. Ask how you can help them learn what they’d like to know about St. Mark’s. Offer them written church materials, such as the trifold and Lion’s Tale. Invite them to coffee hour. If they decline, ask if they would like a follow-up contact, and if so, ask for their phone number. Introduce visitors to members. · If a visitor has come several times, ask if they have a nametag or if they’d like one made. After coffee hour, put all temporary nametags in the Parish Administrator’s box. · After coffee hour, take the guest register to the office. Check the visitor card file to see if any visitors already have a card. If so, note the date on the current card and put it in the DCE’s box. If so, complete a visitor information card and put it in the DCE’s box. Write a brief postcard to the visitor, expressing joy at having met them, inviting them back, and offering to help in any way. Put postcards on the stamp machine behind the Parish Administrator’s desk. Return the guest register to the narthex. · Let the Rector or DCE know if a visitor has asked for follow-up contact or has expressed interest in joining. Qualifications: · 1 hour per month to attend Evangelism Ministry meeting. · 1 to 2 hours per month for other responsibilities. Time Requirements: · Before and after the 10:30 Service, 1 Sunday per month. · Evangelism Ministry meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month. |
