Bracelets of Hope
In October 2005, the Outreach Committee at St. Mark's undertook a project to make multi-colored bracelets - "Bracelets of Hope" - and sell them for $15.00. Each multi-colored bead on the bracelet represents a different cancer and the hope for a cure. Proceeds from the sale of the Bracelet of Hope would go towards sending a child with cancer to Special Love - Camp Fantastic (www.specialove.org) in Winchester, Virginia. The cost to send one child to Camp Fantastic for the week is $600.00.
It is amazing how successful and popular this Outreach project has been. We have sold bracelets to individuals from Goleta, California, to Brussels, Belgium. The bracelets have been ordered by individuals in over 25 states and over 1,000 Bracelets of Hope have been sold!
Although our initial goal was to send one child with cancer to camp, St. Mark's sent 12 children to Camp Fantastic in 2006! We could not have done this without you!
We are also excited to share with you that this is not the end of this project. We will continue to make and sell Bracelets of Hope. It is our prayer that we will be able to send more kids to camp in 2007. If you would like to purchase a bracelet, please contact Frosty Owen.
